The Four Star Captain is actually Sam de Freyssinet, a software engineering director based in the Bay Area of California.

When not working, Sam enjoys traveling, snowboarding and of course flying, both real and virtual. He especially likes doing all of these things with his kids.

Where does the name originate?

Sam has not been in the military. The name Four Star Captain originated from the City that Sam spent a lot of time in during the 2010’s.

The biggest clue is front and center in the channel logo.

The Channel

Flight Simulation videos that focus on flying online on either VATSIM or PilotEdge and attempt, sometimes less successfully, to follow real world procedures and operations.

Most of my videos are commercial aviation focused, but I do like to take up smaller aircraft for VFR flights every once in a while.

Flight Simulation on Linux is a recent passion that I am focused on sharing, especially the ongoing development of XEarthLayer, streaming ortho-scenery for X-Plane on Linux.
